The shock because she’s working on her Masters in a foreign country and doing very well, but she now knows why she struggle so much in school. We always thought she was just slower in getting things, when it came easier to her sister. We were lucky that she was a perfectionist and always put in the extra effort to do well even now that she found out what was causing her learning to be difficult at times. I’m not sure how severe her dyslexia is, I’m thinking not as bad as other kids that might not have the knowledge they might has this disability if I may call it that. My daughter excelled nonetheless but I’m thinking how about the kids and parents that might not have the resources and or the opportunity to find out earlier to obtain the support to make the learning experience (school) more enjoyable with the disability. I could only look back at the added stress my daughter was under that could’ve been avoided if we knew and got her help. We are happy now to see how we can help her as an adult and we hope we can urge other families to seek early testing just to rule out, in case it could be dyslexia and or other learning disability!
